Former Florida State Seminoles QB Jameis Winston’s parents say he was murdered, but police say they don’t know if they’re correct

Former Florida quarterback Jameisa Winston’s mother says she has been informed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement that Jameif Winston is dead and that her son was murdered.

According to the Miami Herald, the news of the death of Jameika’s father, Charles Winston, was confirmed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

Jameis was killed in Florida, where he played for the Seminoles from 2010-14.

He was shot and killed by an unknown assailant in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Charles Winston’s family told the Herald that Jamiis was not an easy-going person, but was a devoted father who loved his daughter.

Charles said his daughter was a “quiet kid” who enjoyed sports, but never became too attached to any sport.

The Florida Department for Children and Families said in a statement to the Herald, “It is believed that James was killed at approximately 3 a.m. at a residence on the 2600 block of South Main Street in Orlando, Florida.”ABC News has reached out to Charles Winston for comment.

Jamiis Winston was a three-star prospect from the University of Florida in 2010, and the nation’s No. 2 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite.

He received All-American honors from the American Football Coaches Association and was a finalist for the 2017 Heisman Trophy.

According the Miami New Times, Charles and his wife, Jennifer, moved from Orlando to Miami in 2012.

Charles Winston was active in his church and took a Bible class with the church.

He is survived by his wife and three children.
